Holy Week 2019

HOLY WEEK BEGINS this Sunday with fresh palms and palm crosses to celebrate Palm Sunday.  All children are to meet at church at 9:30 am to participate in a special worship procession.

MAUNDY THURSDAY’s Tenebrae Service at 7:30 pm is one of the most moving services of the entire church year.  On that night our Lord gathered with his disciples in the Upper Room and instituted the Lord’s supper.  During that evening He shared with them many of the things which are recorded in the gospels.  It was during this night that Jesus was arrested, tried and sentenced to crucifixion.  International musician and cellist, Louise Dubin, will perform.

GOOD FRIDAY – Community Good Friday Service “The Seven Last Words from the Cross” to be held at the Second Reformed church from Noon – 3 pm.  Worshipers are invited to come and go as their schedule permits.  Each word will be interspersed with a hymn and musical selection.  The Clergy of Hackensack, whose members will be participating, are the sponsors of this service.  Rev. McClelland will preach the 2nd Word, “Today you will be with me in paradise”about 12:40 pm.

EASTER SERVICE – Family Worship begins at 10:30 a.m.  Pastor Steve will preach, and the sanctuary will be adorned with lilies and tulips.  Children are to attend worship with their parents.   Coffee Hour will be hosted by the Deacons in the Parlor, and an Egg Hunt will be held in the courtyard for the children.
